  • This position requires on-site presence in Apodaca, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, following a hybrid work model.

 

Job Summary

You will manage a team of electrical engineers to design and sustain next-generation, energy efficient, intelligent lighting control devices and LED drivers.  As a member of an international cross-functional team, you will work closely together with other product, architecture, and development functions to deliver high quality, robust, and innovative products into the commercial lighting market.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Manage hardware engineering operations, which may include designs of line- and low-voltage power supplies, analog conditioning circuits, digital high-speed circuits, low power circuits, serial communication circuits and wireless communications.
  • Manage all aspects of the product design cycle, including concept design, detailed design, prototyping, testing, design reviews, and DFMEAs
  • Work with our manufacturing facilities to successfully introduce new products and designs into manufacturing. This will include collaboration on test specifications, tester design reviews, test failure analysis, DFM reviews, and build readiness reviews.
  • Interface and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams consisting of marketing, hardware, firmware, software, and manufacturing functions throughout the development process.
  • Ensure the timely completion of projects within budget guidelines while maintaining high quality.
  • Mentor and motivate hardware engineering associates; assist and guide them with career development and training.
  • Establish goals, design approaches, resource schedules, and engineering requirements to accomplish overall objectives.
  • Direct and guide regulatory and quality compliance activities within hardware engineering.

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

  • 7+ years of experience in the design and development of electronics
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Deep technical and practical understanding of analog electronics, power supplies, high speed digital buses, and wireless communication
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead technical teams
  • Experience with Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), and signal integrity testing to US and international standards (required)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in the design and development of electronics
  • 3+ years of experience managing an electrical engineering team
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Direct experience working in the  lighting controls or building automation industries
  • Experience with the following networks in an industrial setting: Ethernet, RS-485, Bluetooth / BLE, IEE 802.15.4, Wi-Fi
  • Experience in adjacent engineering disciplines, such as mechanical engineering, system architecture, firmware development, etc.
