Role Summary & Location
As a Software Engineer at Acuity, you're a key contributor to a cross-functional Agile squad focused on developing innovative software for industry-leading IoT lighting and sensing systems. In this role you’ll work closely with other developers, product owners, and QA engineers to design, build, test, and maintain cloud and mobile-connected components. This role is ideal for those eager to grow their development skills in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
This role works remotely from the United States.
Primary Responsibilities Include
- Contribute to feature development, bug fixes, and enhancements in front-end or back-end components.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code in languages and frameworks such as C#, JavaScript, or React.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with team members to understand requirements and ensure solutions meet technical and business needs.
- Assist in writing unit and integration tests to ensure software quality.
- Participate in peer code reviews and receive feedback to continuously improve.
- Learn and apply development best practices, version control (Git), and automated testing tools.
- Flexible and adaptable to changes in requirements or priorities, as Scrum values iterative and incremental delivery.
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
- Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of professional back end software development experience, including proficiency in C# and Java programming languages and .NET and Node.js platforms.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience with version controls systems like Git.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
- Strong debugging skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Xunit, Nunit).
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
The range for this position is $93,000.00 to $167,400.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
