Job Summary
The Senior Director of Sales, Electronics leads the C&I Electronics Sales team and is responsible for driving sustainable growth across Acuity’s electronics portfolio—including lighting controls, components, software, and services. This role provides strategic direction, sales leadership, and cross-functional alignment to enable the C&I Electronics Sales team to successfully execute sales initiatives, expand market share, and strengthen channel preference for Acuity’s electronics solutions. Acting as both a strategic leader and subject matter expert, the Senior Director develops and refines go-tomarket strategies, ensures consistent execution across markets, and equips the C&I Electronics Sales team with the resources, training, and data-driven insights needed to win. This is a remote, home oƯice–based role with significant travel required to engage customers, partners, and regional sales teams.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Sales Growth & Strategic Leadership
- Lead and manage a team of Sales Directors & Managers to achieve growth targets for Acuity’s electronics portfolio, including nLight® and SensorSwitch® controls, Pathway® solutions, eldoLED® drivers, IOTA® emergency solutions, and embedded technologies.
- Set annual sales goals, monitor performance, and hold the team accountable to execution and results.
- Develop and implement strategic sales initiatives in collaboration with channel leadership, agents, and vertical market leaders.
- Adjust sales strategies based on market intelligence, competitive analysis, and performance data to drive revenue and margin growth.
- Fosters a team culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Manages team’s operational expense budget.
Technical Expertise & Market Development
- Provide senior-level technical guidance to the C&I Electronics Sales team to enhance their ability to position solutions and win complex, high-value opportunities.
- Support market development by helping identify opportunities within high-potential verticals and aligning the teams’ activities to those opportunities.
- Consolidate and elevate market insights from the team to inform product development, identify gaps, and influence Acuity’s innovation roadmap.
- Monitor national market trends and competitor activities, sharing insights with leadership and crossfunctional teams to refine commercial strategy.
Training, Enablement & Talent Development
- Oversee the development and delivery of training programs that strengthen the technical selling capabilities of the internal sales team and agency partners.
- Ensure alignment of all CEU presentations, technical training, and partner education with strategic sales priorities.
- Mentor and coach Sales Managers on solution selling, territory management, and relationship development.
- Partner with Marketing and Product Management to equip the team with tools, content, and programs that increase efectiveness and mindshare across the channel.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment
- Serve as the senior liaison between the C&I Electronics Sales team and Product Management, Marketing, and Customer Experience.
- Collaborate with product marketing to align go-to-market messaging, launch plans, and partner enablement programs.
- Ensure best practices and insights from the field are shared across regions to improve eƯiciency and outcomes.
Business Planning & Analytics
- Lead the annual planning process for the C&I Electronics Sales team, including forecasting accuracy, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Define and monitor key performance metrics for Sales Managers, using analytics to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
- Leverage data to prioritize market investments and measure the ROI of strategic initiatives.
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5-7 years of sales leadership experience in lighting controls, components, or electronics, with a proven record of managing high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic sales plans across multi-channel distribution networks.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to translate product capabilities into customer value propositions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of an organization.
- Experience engaging across the full construction and sales channel—including designers, engineers, contractors, and distributors.

The range for this position is $154,700.00 to $278,400.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
