Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Failure Analysis, Hardware Quality & Reliability leads a team of electrical engineers responsible for root cause analysis of field issues and for driving hardware quality and reliability for intelligent lighting control devices used in commercial and industrial IoT applications.

This role owns field failure analysis, hardware quality assurance, and reliability validation, partnering closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to improve product robustness, reduce field failures, and ensure longterm system stability and performance

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Failure Analysis & RCA

  • Lead failure analysis on electronic assemblies to identify root causes and trends.

  • Manage data analysis, reporting, and prioritization based on business impact.

  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner cross-functionally to improve design robustness and prevent defects.

  • Participate in quality reviews and release readiness.

  • Analyze field returns and warranty data to identify validation gaps.

  • Drive improvements in testing, automation, and quality processes.

Customer Support

  • Support escalations with clear technical analysis and corrective actions.

  • Translate field issues into engineering and quality improvements.

  • Communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a team of hardware engineers.

  • Assess skill gaps and define goals, RCA methods, and resource plans.

Reporting

  • Prepare clear failure analysis and quality reports.

  • Maintain accurate failure data and classifications.

  • Present insights effectively to stakeholders.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field;
  • 10+ years of experience in quality, hardware engineering, electronics testing, reliability engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of people management experience leading technical teams
  • Strong understanding of electronic circuits, power electronics, LEDs/Drivers, firmware interactions, and common failure mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead technical teams.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and technical writing skills.


Preferred

  • Experience with LED drivers, power supplies, or controls systems.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as PCB assembly, SMT, selective solder, or potting.

Travel Requirements

  • 1-20%

The range for this position is $104,200.00 to $225,500.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
