Job Summary

The Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for overseeing a team of project managers to help manage a collection of projects and programs in Acuity Inc.'s IT Experience, Infrastructure, and Operations to ensure they align with the organization’s strategic goals and deliver maximum value. This role focuses on strategic selection, prioritization, resource optimization, risk management, and performance oversight across the portfolio while also providing team of engaged project managers that execute at the highest level.  The Portfolio Manager works closely with Growth and Transformation leadership, portfolio/program/project leaders, and cross functional stakeholders to ensure the portfolio delivers expected outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management
•    Lead, coach, and develop a team of Project Managers to enhance project delivery skills, communication practices, and overall effectiveness. 
•    Foster a culture of accountability, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
•    Conduct performance assessments, identify skill gaps, and ensure talent readiness for future organizational needs.

Strategic Alignment & Portfolio Planning
•    Ensure all projects and programs align with organizational strategy and business goals. 
•    Develop and maintain the portfolio vision, scope, and evaluation criteria used for project selection and prioritization.
•    Evaluate new project proposals based on strategic fit, value, risks, and resource capacity. 

Portfolio Governance & Oversight
•    Establish and maintain governance structures, processes, and standards for portfolio decision-making.
•    Oversee portfolio performance, ensuring projects remain aligned with scope, delivery expectations, and strategic outcomes.
•    Facilitate regular portfolio reviews with Growth and Transformation leadership and key stakeholders. 

Resource & Capacity Management
•    Optimize allocation of shared resources across all projects within the portfolio. 
•    Monitor capacity constraints and make recommendations to balance workload and maintain productivity.

Risk, Issue & Dependency Management
•    Identify and manage portfolio level risks, issues, and dependencies that may impact value delivery.
•    Work with leaders to ensure effective mitigation strategies are in place.

Performance Measurement & Reporting
•    Track and analyze portfolio performance metrics, including value realization, cost, resource utilization, and schedule adherence.
•    Deliver clear, actionable performance reports and insights to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
•    Build strong relationships with leadership, functional leaders, product managers, and team members.
•    Communicate the portfolio vision, priorities, and performance expectations, securing stakeholder alignment and buy in.

Continuous Improvement & Capability Development
•    Develop and enhance portfolio management processes, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency and decision making.
•    Promote best practices and mentor teams on portfolio and project management principles.

Financial Management
•    Oversee portfolio budgets to ensure investments support strategic priorities. 
•    Evaluate ROI and financial performance of initiatives within the portfolio.

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven experience in project portfolio management, program management, or PMO leadership.
  • Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and decision making abilities.
  • Excellent communication, executive level presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in analyzing complex project/portfolio data and metrics.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and influence across organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with portfolio management tools and methodologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field


Preferred Requirements

  • PfMP (Portfolio Management Professional)
  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • Program Management (PgMP)
  • Agile certifications (SAFe, Scrum, etc.)
  • Advanced Degree preferred

The range for this position is $150,900.00 to $271,600.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
