Advanced Manufacturing Engineer Senior

Job Summary

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in evaluating, improving, and implementing manufacturing processes and equipment to increase efficiency, quality, capacity, and process integrity. This position focuses on manufacturing process and equipment improvement, supporting new product introductions, developing cost-effective manufacturing solutions, and leading complex engineering projects across multiple functions and locations.

The role partners closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and external suppliers to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, implement new technologies, and develop manufacturing best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and equipment to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, capacity, cost, and process integrity.
• Design, develop, and implement manufacturing equipment, process improvements, and mechatronic solutions.
• Lead manufacturing engineering projects from concept through implementation, including design reviews, project schedules, supplier coordination, equipment acceptance, installation, and production readiness.
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams during new product development to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM), quality, cost, and operational requirements are incorporated into product and process designs.
• Lead complex cross-functional projects involving Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, suppliers, and other internal and international stakeholders.
• Develop business cases for manufacturing investments and present technical and financial recommendations to leadership.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, milestones, documentation, and supplier deliverables.
• Develop and review machine capacity models and recommend solutions for current or anticipated capacity constraints.
• Perform and support process capability analysis, including Cp/Cpk and GR&R, for new and existing manufacturing processes.
• Lead and participate in Lean and Kaizen initiatives focused on continuous improvement, waste reduction, process flow, and operational efficiency.
• Research emerging manufacturing technologies and work with equipment suppliers and vendors to identify and implement appropriate solutions.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing processes and equipment and develop sustainable corrective and preventive solutions.
• Train Operations and other stakeholders on new equipment, processes, and manufacturing methods.
• Serve as a technical resource and provide guidance to colleagues with less experience.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a related manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience with manufacturing process improvement, equipment improvement, and implementation of manufacturing solutions.
• Experience leading engineering projects involving manufacturing equipment, processes, suppliers, timelines, and budgets.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, continuous improvement, and Lean Cell Design principles.
• Experience with DFM and FMEA methodologies.
• Experience with process capability and measurement system analysis, including Cp/Cpk and GR&R.
• Experience evaluating manufacturing capacity and developing solutions for capacity constraints.
• Working knowledge of CAD systems and the ability to evaluate or support equipment and process designs.
• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot and improve manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Ability to develop cost analyses and business cases for manufacturing investments and improvement projects.
• Strong project and program management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
• Experience with mechanical machine design, machine building, automation, or mechatronic manufacturing solutions.

Travel Requirements

• This position offers location flexibility within the United States; however, candidates located in or near Crawfordsville, Indiana, are preferred.
• Candidates who are not based in Crawfordsville must be willing and able to travel approximately 40–50% of their time to our Crawfordsville, Indiana facility.
• Additional domestic and international travel may be required based on project and business needs.
