Job Summary

The Enterprise PLM Business Solutions Lead will partner with the PLM Leader to advance the organization's Product Lifecycle Management strategy and enterprise digital thread. This role will work directly with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Service, IT, and other business functions to identify opportunities, design future-state processes, and develop business solutions using PTC Windchill and connected enterprise platforms.

The position will serve as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams. It will translate business needs into standardized PLM processes, functional requirements, solution concepts, and implementation priorities. The role will guide how Windchill is configured and used but will not be primarily responsible for software development or deep technical coding.

The successful candidate will combine strong PLM process knowledge, Windchill functional expertise, business analysis, change leadership, and enterprise thinking. This person will help move the organization from fragmented and drawing-centric practices toward governed, part-centric, BOM-driven, and digitally connected product-development processes.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Business Partnership and Process Transformation

Build strong working relationships with all product-data stakeholder teams
Run discovery sessions & workshops to understand processes, business challenges, data requirements, & improvement opportunities
Design future processes that improve the creation, management, approval, reuse, & distribution of product information
Identify gaps between current practices & industry-leading PLM capabilities
Challenge complexity & promote common enterprise processes across business units, product lines, & manufacturing
Convert business problems into clear process, data, & system requirements
Develop process maps, business requirements, user stories, functional specifications, decision documents, & acceptance criteria
Ensure solutions address the underlying business need rather than recreating legacy processes in a new system
Quantify expected business value

PLM Solution Development

Develop business solutions using PTC Windchill capabilities and connected enterprise applications
Determine how Windchill will support parts, documents, CAD data, product structures, changes, configurations, manufacturing information, supplier information, & quality records
Define the functional design for Windchill object types, attributes, relationships, lifecycles, workflows, roles, access controls, business rules, & user experiences
Design processes for Problem Reports, Promotion Requests, Change Requests, Deviations, Variances, Change Notices, & related change-management activities
Establish processes for the move from CAD structures to engineering & manufacturing BOMs, process plans, and plant-specific BOMs
Solution for product configuration, options and variants, classification, supplier collaboration, project collaboration, & manufacturing process management
Evaluate solutions against business value, user experience, supportability, enterprise standards, & long-term PLM strategy
Prioritize standard Windchill capabilities and configuration over customization
Provide functional direction to Windchill partners
Review delivered configurations to ensure they align with approved business processes & functional requirements

Enterprise Digital Thread

Partner with PLM Leader to translate enterprise digital-thread vision into actionable capabilities and initiatives
Help establish PLM as the governed foundation for product definitions, configurations, structures, documents, & change information
Improve flow & traceability of product information across requirements, CAD & model-based definition, parts & product structures, BOMs, manufacturing processes & work instructions, quality & compliance, supplier collaboration, ERP & MES, service, & product obsolescence
Define system-of-record ownership & the appropriate flow of information between Windchill & enterprise systems
Identify breaks, duplications, manual handoffs, & data-quality risks in digital thread
Develop solutions for product decisions, requirements, designs, parts, BOMs, changes, manufacturing processes, & downstream execution.
Support integration for Creo, SolidWorks, MPMLink, ProjectLink, Windchill Navigate, ThingWorx, ERP, MES, quality, requirements, & supplier platforms.
Help transition the organization from drawing-centric product development toward part-centric, model-based, and BOM-driven practices.
Evaluate new PTC capabilities and recommend opportunities for proofs of concept, pilots, and enterprise adoption.

PLM Strategy and Roadmap Support

Support the development and maintenance of the enterprise PLM roadmap.
Translate strategic objectives into defined initiatives, capabilities, deliverables, dependencies, and implementation phases.
Help evaluate and prioritize business requests based on value, risk, urgency, complexity, and alignment with the PLM strategy.
Develop business cases and recommendations for new capabilities, modules, integrations, and process improvements.
Identify dependencies between foundational data improvements and more advanced digital-thread capabilities.
Support PLM maturity assessments and use the results to recommend improvement priorities.
Establish measurable outcomes for PLM initiatives and monitor whether implemented solutions achieve the expected results.
Provide clear recommendations and status updates to the PLM Leader, governance teams, business process owners, and other stakeholders.

Process and Data Governance

Help establish enterprise standards for product data, processes, and system usage.
Define governance requirements for part types, document types, attributes, classifications, numbering, naming, revisions, lifecycle states, relationships, and access controls.
Establish clear process ownership and decision rights across business and technical teams.
Promote data quality, standardization, reuse, part rationalization, and duplicate prevention.
Support governance for CAD-to-part relationships, BOM ownership, configuration management, manufacturing views, plant-specific structures, and downstream data consumption.
Help define product obsolescence, records-retention, archival, and controlled-deletion processes.
Ensure new solutions consider security, auditability, compliance, regulatory, and records-management requirements.
Participate in PLM design reviews, prioritization forums, and change-control activities.

Solution Delivery and Business Adoption

Serve as the business and functional lead throughout the solution-delivery lifecycle.
Coordinate with business owners, product owners, project managers, technical teams, and external implementation partners.
Maintain alignment among documented requirements, approved processes, configured solutions, testing, training, and deployment.
Develop business scenarios, test cases, and user-acceptance criteria.
Coordinate user acceptance testing and confirm that delivered solutions meet the intended business outcomes.
Support pilot implementations and phased enterprise deployments.
Partner with organizational change-management and training resources to prepare users for new processes and tools.
Develop process guidance, role definitions, procedures, demonstrations, and communication materials.
Monitor adoption and collect feedback following implementation.
Identify corrective actions when a solution does not produce the expected process or business results.

Education (minimum education required)

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, information technology, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Seven or more years of experience in PLM, product development, engineering systems, manufacturing systems, or digital transformation.
Strong functional knowledge of PTC Windchill and its application to enterprise product-development processes.
Demonstrated experience designing or improving PLM business processes.
Strong understanding of parts, documents, CAD data, product structures, BOMs, workflows, lifecycles, configuration management, and engineering change.
Experience facilitating cross-functional workshops and converting business needs into future-state processes and functional requirements.
Experience working with technical teams to guide the configuration or implementation of enterprise systems.
Ability to evaluate business needs from an enterprise perspective and balance standardization with legitimate functional requirements.
Strong process-mapping, requirements-management, facilitation, documentation, and presentation skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to communicate effectively with business users, technical teams, implementation partners, and senior leaders.
Ability to influence decisions and establish alignment without relying on direct organizational authority.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Experience with Windchill PDMLink, MPMLink, ProjectLink, Options and Variants, Supplier Management, Windchill Navigate, or ThingWorx.
Experience with Creo and SolidWorks product-development environments.
Experience developing CAD-to-EBOM, EBOM-to-MBOM, process-planning, and plant-BOM processes.
Experience connecting PLM with ERP, MES, quality, requirements-management, supplier, or service platforms.
Experience with Oracle ERP or similar enterprise systems.
Knowledge of model-based definition, digital manufacturing, product configuration, supplier collaboration, and product traceability.
Experience with PLM governance, data migration, data quality, legacy-system consolidation, or enterprise transformation programs.
Experience developing business cases, roadmaps, maturity assessments, and transformation metrics.
PTC Windchill certification, Prosci certification, Lean/Six Sigma training, or relevant business-process credentials.

Travel Requirements

The range for this position is $120,000 to $217,000. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
