Job Summary

As a UX Lead and Design Manager, you will lead and contribute to the full spectrum of product design—spanning both digital software experiences and physical hardware interfaces. You’ll guide the team through framing design opportunities, concept exploration, prototyping, testing, and delivering developer- and engineer-ready designs. You’ll also oversee the creation and evolution of design systems and component libraries that support cohesive, scalable experiences across platforms.

In addition to hands-on design work, you will manage and mentor a small team of UX/UI designers, fostering their growth and aligning their efforts with business and customer needs. You’ll be instrumental in shaping how QSC delivers exceptional product experiences that bridge the digital and physical worlds.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Lead and contribute to the design of converged, multi-channel solutions across both software and hardware products.
  • Build scalable systems and design frameworks that empower your team and ensure consistency across product lines.
  • Manage and mentor a team of UX/UI designers, providing regular feedback, career development guidance, and performance evaluations.
  • Drive multidisciplinary collaboration in agile and/or lean product development environments across complex projects.
  • Influence all stages of the product lifecycle—product definition, user research, design execution, development, QA, and hardware integration.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers and Engineering leads (software and hardware) to ensure design solutions meet user needs and business goals.
  • Champion responsible design practices that prioritize accessibility, inclusivity, and ethical considerations.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity and innovation at the intersection of design, product, and technology.
  • Contribute to organizational initiatives that enhance team culture, design excellence, and impact across QSC.

Education (minimum education required)

High School Graduate

Preferred Education (i.e. type of degree)

Bachelor of Arts
Master of Arts in Drafting & Design

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

  • A portfolio showcasing your direct contributions across the full product design lifecycle (Discovery → Definition → Design Execution → Developer/Engineer Handoff), including both digital and physical product experiences.
  • Proven success in launching digital and/or hardware-integrated products and services, with at least 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring design teams.
  • 7+ years of experience in product design within consultancies, in-house teams, or product organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business challenges and user needs into elegant, functional design solutions across modalities.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design (Product, Visual, Interaction, Industrial) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong time management skills to balance team leadership with project deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts to stakeholders and team members.
  • Collaborative mindset with experience working closely with engineers (software and hardware), product managers, and cross-functional teams.
  • A strong, empathetic leader who inspires and motivates team members to deliver high-quality work.
  • Mastery of design tools such as Figma; bonus points for front-end development or hardware prototyping experience.

The range for this position is $104,000  to $185,000. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
