Job Summary

The function of the Service Technician is to provide technical support and hardware repair on powered and passive loudspeakers, amplifiers, and digital mixer hardware, with a primary focus on Pro Audio and/or Live Sound products. This includes troubleshooting, performing component and sub-assebly repairs, and performing validation testing.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Perform diagnostics on returned or failed Pro Audio and/or Live Sound products using electronic theories and principles to identify the root cause of failure. Repair or replace defective circuitry or electronic components, using hand tools, power tools, or soldering iron. Use standard test equipment, perform diagnostic tests and analyze results to evaluate equipment performance before and after repair, adjust as needed.
  • Provide technical support to QSC Service Partners worldwide. Technical support communications are conducted over the telephone, via the Internet, through correspondence, and in person.  Communications are to be logged in the CRM.
  • Maintain service materials including service manuals, troubleshoot guides, and work-instructions to perform repairs on Pro Audio and/or Live Sound products.  Assist with making sure all service materials are updated in the repositories available for QSC Service Partners worldwide.

Education (minimum education required)

Associate of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology or Electrical

Preferred Skills and Experience

Require understanding and application of electronic theory, including:

    • Ohms Law, AC/DC principles.
    • Speaker Transducer Mechanics.
    • Class A, Class AB, Class H, Class D amplifier topologies.
    • DSP, component signals and concepts.
    • Digital audio network transports.
  • Ability to read and follow schematics. 
  • Strong aptitude in different amplifier, passive and powered loudspeaker, and digital mixer technologies.
  • Must be familiar with the use of oscilloscopes, DMM’s, and audio precision systems.
  • AV industry certifications in Dante, SynAudCon, or Avixia is a plus.
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Experience with Salesforce Case Management and Knowledge Base is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) is a plus.
  • Lean (6S) workplace experience is a plus.

The range for this position is $48,000  to $103,000. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
