Job Summary

The Hardware Test Engineer is responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining test strategies that validate the performance, reliability, and compliance of QSC hardware products. This role collaborates closely with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, and compliance teams to ensure products meet functional requirements, and long-term reliability expectations.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Test Development & Execution
Develop comprehensive hardware test plans, test cases, and validation strategies for analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuits.
Design automated and manual test setups to validate PCBs, subsystems, and complete products.
Perform root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting of hardware failures using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and other lab equipment.

 

Quality & Reliability
Conduct HALT/HASS, environmental stress tests, thermal cycling, vibration, and long‑term reliability, system tests and analysis.
Evaluate product robustness and identify potential design weaknesses early in the development cycle.

 

Automation & Data Systems
Develop automated test scripts using Python.
Implement data collection, monitoring, and reporting methods to improve test coverage and product insights.
Maintain test fixtures, custom tooling, and instrumentation used in product validation.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers to influence design‑for‑testability (DFT) and design‑for‑reliability (DFR).
Support manufacturing test transfer and troubleshoot issues at contract manufacturers.
Document all test results, procedures, and engineering findings.

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or any related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware test, validation, or hardware development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, audio analyzers, and other electronic measurement tools.
  • Ability to design basic custom circuits and PCBAs and develop custom test fixtures to support test automation.
  • Proficient in reading schematics, interpreting datasheets, and understanding electronic circuit behavior.
  • Experience with Python, and learn and adapt to custom home grown test automation frameworks.
  • Responsible for the design, development, procurement, fabrication, and shipment of test fixtures to contract manufacturers.
  • Willingness to travel as required to support NPI projects, or provide remote support for test stations during new product launches and sustaining activities.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience testing professional audio, video, or networked systems.
  • Knowledge of Class-D amplifiers, power electronics, and analog and digital audio circuitry.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and overseas suppliers.
  • Understanding of Ethernet, USB, I2C, SPI, HDMI and other communication protocols.
  • Experience with JTAG, Bed of Nails, functional test equipment.

The range for this position is $73,400.00  to $132,000.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
