Job Summary
We are looking for a Test Development Engineer to join our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team in Crawfordsville, IN. The primary focus of this role is to improve and maintain existing test code to increase system robustness, supportability, and scalability. The engineer will work on the full development of automated test systems, including both software and electrical aspects. While strong Python skills are required, training in LabVIEW will be provided, as both environments are used during the transition phase.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for well-structured, reliable code in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Improve and refactor existing test software to enhance reliability, simplify support, and enable easier scaling
- Develop and implement automated test solutions for production systems, including coding, integration, and validation
- Lead the migration of legacy LabVIEW code to modern Python-based architectures
- Receive structured training in LabVIEW/TestStand, applying it alongside Python as part of transitional developments
- Collaborate with electrical engineers and technicians to design and integrate test hardware, including sensors, relays, and signal routing
- Provide ongoing support for deployed systems, including debugging and root cause analysis of test failures
- Create and maintain system architecture documentation, coding standards, and development guidelines
- Set up and manage DevOps pipelines (CI/CD) to validate test code and streamline deployment
- Participate in design reviews, team planning sessions, and cross-functional collaboration to drive continuous improvement
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field
- Programming: Strong proficiency in Python is mandatory
- Electronics Knowledge: Solid understanding of electronic components, measurement principles, and basic circuit analysis
- LabVIEW/TestStand: Experience is a plus; formal training will be provided
- DevOps: Familiarity with Git, version control, and basic CI/CD practices preferred
- Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred to support training and collaboration with teams in Mexico
- Mobility: Willingness to travel occasionally to Mexico for training, deployments, or collaboration. Up to 25% Travel within the USA for to provide Technical Support (Texas, Ohio, Atlanta, Minnesota)
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to perform structured debugging and conduct root cause analysis
- Communication: Clear documentation and collaborative skills in a team environment
- Work Location: Full-time, on-site position at our Production Facility in Crawfordsville, IN
