Team & Position Overview

Nightingale Lighting, introduced in 2024, is setting a new standard with innovative, market-disruptive lighting products for healthcare spaces. Drawing on decades of lighting expertise, Nightingale solutions combine the best of design and illumination engineering to provide a patient-centric experience that emphasizes wellness. 


We are seeking an experienced, hands-on mechanical engineer to join the Nightingale product development team to lead new product development projects from concept through production. This role reflects responsibility for all aspects of product development-- from novel concept creation through detailed design, testing, documentation, and ultimately manufacturing release. The successful candidate will be creative, curious and independent, while effectively collaborating with all cross functional members of the project team.    

 

This role is responsible for product development from concept through production, which includes new product development, sustaining engineering support, and resolution of field problems. Using the product delivery (stage-gate) system, The individual will engage in mechanical product design, prototyping, and release to manufacturing, managing complex schedules including product test and evaluation programs. The role collaborates with, and influences all cross functional members of the product team.

  • Manufacturing expertise: Experience in manufacturing operations, as well as design for manufacturing with standard processes for part and assembly fabrication (sheet metal, machining, die casting, extrusion, etc). Comfort on the factory floor.
  • Flexibility: Demonstrates adaptability in ever-changing circumstances, and willingness to reprioritize goals and expectations as projects evolve.
  • Hands-on: Proficient with tools, techniques, and methods used to fabricate and modify protype samples, mockups, and installations. Excited to work with physical material in design, development, and for communication.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the product development lifecycle from concept to launch, managing resources effectively and ensuring timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required, ideally Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology. 
  • 3-5 years experience and successful track record in engineering of lighting products, appliances, consumer products, or a related manufacturing field of electro-mechanical products.
  • Proficiency of 3D CAD and Microsoft Office programs required; SolidWorks software proficiency and CAD data management experience preferred.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Available to work from the Decatur, GA facility based on business needs
  • Available to travel domestically and internationally as needed for the role.

The range for this position is $64,300.00 to $115,700.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
