Position Summary & Location

The Product Sourcing Leader launches new and innovative luminaires and electronics, solving customer needs, aligning projects with the right suppliers, and enabling changing market trends. The Product Sourcing Leader is responsible for sourcing strategy enablement and project management on new product development and introduction for Lighting, Controls, and Electronics end-products. 

 

The Product Sourcing Leader optimizes for quality, competitive pricing, on-time delivery, and component technology to meet our customers' demand. The Product Sourcing Leader engages with stakeholders to calibrate sourcing and supply chain with product roadmaps.

 

Based on business needs, this role works a hybrid schedule in Decatur, GA.  

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Leading front-facing project management for Sourcing with business partners in Engineering, Product, Marketing, and Operations on New Product Development (NPI) projects. 
  • Leading sourcing deliverables within Acuity's 5-phase Product Development System (PDS) process.
  • Using qualitative and quantitative inputs, engaging in the product business case for project feasibility. 
  • Partnering with category sourcing to provide the NPI project team with initial component cost, lead times, supplier selection, and capital requirements. 
  • Engaging Early Sourcing Involvement in product ideation, including DF(x) enablement and the Common Parts Catalog. 
  • Participating in the development of the Product Roadmap and Engineering Technology Roadmap processes. 
  • Producing and sharing forecasts of NPI spend and Bill of Materials, including identification of new and carryover business by component category. 
  • Connecting and calibrating NPI project-level requirements to sourcing category strategy at the supplier and component level.

  • Supporting supply and demand planning reviews related to NPI projects in partnership with supply chain stakeholders, enabling effective component phase-in and phase-out for service and inventory management. 
  • Managing project timelines and ensuring compliance to deliver NPI projects within the goals. 
  • Identifying and liaising with category sourcing teams on needs and opportunities to engage in supplier development. 
  • Planning and accounting for the prototyping process for new components. 
  • Participating in Advanced Sourcing and new technology development. 
  • Meeting deliverables related to Enterprise Risk, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. 
  • Resolving issues with suppliers as they arise to address concerns/changes to the product involving quality, delivery, service, and/or price.
  • Controlling the implementation timeline of the new components and supporting expedited implementation if required. 

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field is required. An international degree equivalent is accepted. 
  • Five years of sourcing or procurement experience from electronics or industrial manufacturing is required.
  • Experience leading complex sourcing projects, including New Product launches and VAVE, is required. 
  • Experience selecting and sourcing diverse raw materials, electronic components, and mechanical/electromechanical components is required.
  • Working knowledge of the Oracle procurement module is required.
  • Prior experience in Sourcing Category Management is highly preferred.
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
  • Must demonstrate tactful and persuasive communication and presentation skills to influence others.
  • Curiosity and a spirit of continuous improvement are highly preferred.
  • Proven success leading cross-functional teams and working well under tight deadlines.
  • An energetic, self-motivated, and dynamic team player is highly preferred.
  • Must demonstrate strong analytical and technical writing skills.
  • Availability to travel based on business needs (domestic and international) is required.
