  • This position requires on-site presence in Decatur, GA, following a hybrid work model.

 

Job Summary

This position is responsible for product development, design, sustaining current products and working on RFDs. This position will work in an electro- mechanical environment and will be essential with the product design, part assembly and detailed part drawings. You will work on prototyping, testing, and assembling prototypes and samples. In this position, you will be working with a cross functional team to ensure that all aspects are met in order to successfully release a product into production.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Develop concepts and prototypes for new products.
  • Attend team meetings, utilizing the stage-gate product development system for each major product.
  • Create test plans for luminaire certification (UL/CSA), validate new features, and ensure interoperability of new components within the product.
  • Integrate cutting-edge controls technology into luminaires.
  • Manage project timelines while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Oversee Phase-In and Phase-Out (PIPO) processes for high-volume product families.
  • Travel to production facilities to support Pilot and Pre-Production Assembly Runs.
  • Support Lean activities and continuously seek process improvements.
  • Submit test requests and collaborate with the testing group as needed.
  • Submit prototyping requests and coordinate with the model shop for prototype production and sample assembly.
  • Review functional specifications, project charters, and competitor samples.
  • Work with manufacturing facilities to resolve part or assembly issues, address deviation requests, and correct bill of material errors.

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in engineering within the lighting or a related field is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals. Proficient in 3D/2D CAD software, MS Office, and other relevant tools.
  • Methodology Knowledge: Understanding of Lean & Six Sigma methodologies, including practices like standard work, time studies, cause and effect analysis, 5WHY analysis, and other DMAIC tools.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Some familiarity with manufacturing methods such as stamping, drawing, casting, and extrusion of metals and plastics.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas through sketches and engineering drawings.
  • Teamwork: Works effectively in cross-functional team environments and demonstrates experience collaborating with team members from different departments.

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, as needed. Travel will be within the USA and International.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

 

 

The range for this position is $83,300.00 to $149,900.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
