About this Team:

The Acuity Brands Commercial Outdoor Product Team’s goal is to provide the best lighting solutions to meet the needs of a wide variety of customers and end users. We work collaboratively on all aspects of bringing new lighting products and solutions to market that meet the demands of all types of commercial outdoor applications. The responsibilities of the team include complete business responsibility including full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility of their assigned products.

How you will contribute:

Senior Outdoor Product Managers, has full responsibility for their assigned products including all aspects of product life cycle management and this leader will own their business segment, work cross-functionally throughout the matrix, and drive strategic value to ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) are driven through the group and organization. This role will drive accountabilities for all facets of product life cycle management, including understanding market demands, technology trends, and the competitive landscape. This role is responsible for managing the strategic product roadmap, development, and launch. Leading through influence and collaboration with the appropriate partners on marketing and sales strategy. Must be highly creative and comfortable working with a wide degree of independence and latitude. Must be highly effective at relationship building and maintenance. May lead and influence the work of other team members, internal matrix partners or external business associates.

 

Business Execution (15%)

  • Achieving business goals and key performance indicators (KPI); includes accountability for measurements quality, delivery, cost, inventory (QDCI)
  • Understanding and executing the product strategy
  • Engaging and supporting internal and external customers

Business Strategy (15%)

  • Driving alignment within product portfolio and Acuity Brands Lighting (ABL) operations and strategy
  • Aligning product roadmap with business strategy and priorities
  • Gathering inputs to assist in creation of strategy (i.e. situational analysis, market landscape, baseline for roadmap, etc.)
  • Implementing the strategy to drive product decisions within group

New Product Development (30%)

  • Understanding outdoor lighting market, products, and competitors
  • Identifying product / market opportunities to exploit
  • Developing compelling business cases
  • Establishing and creating customer experience matrix (CEM)
  • Participating in conceptual and detail design event (CDE/DDE)
  • Developing marketing and communications strategy for the product
  • Leading commercialization/validation of product and technology through supply chain
  • Leading post launch support efforts (training, etc.)

Life Cycle Management (20%)

  • Phase in/ phase out (PIPO) decisions for all product development
  • Conducting sales and market trend analysis
  • Setting price and managing margin based on market, trends, price bands, etc.

Matrix Connectivity (20%)

  • Enabling and supporting matrix partner needs
  • Developing strong partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Conducting product and technical training for internal and external teams (tradeshows, customer presentations, etc.) 
  • Engaging focus factory (PIPO, capacity analysis, inventory management, etc.)

Qualified Applicants will have:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum three years of applicable experience required; Outdoor lighting experience preferred
  • Demonstrated successful development and launch of multiple products
  • Navigated strategic changes to product roadmaps and product families
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

 

 

The range for this position is $109,700.00 to $197,500.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
