  • This position requires on-site presence in Des Plaines, IL, must report to the office every business day.

Job Summary

Provide strong leadership to the distribution center team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Coach and mentor team members to strengthen their skills and capabilities, supporting ongoing professional growth and development. Ensure distribution center processes and procedures are followed consistently, with an emphasis on efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Identify opportunities to optimize processes and implement improvements that streamline operations and enhance productivity. Monitor key performance indicators to evaluate performance and support data-driven decision-making that advances operational excellence. Lead and supervise 8 to 50 employees in a lean manufacturing and distribution environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety, inventory control, operational efficiency, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership to the distribution center team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach and mentor team members to strengthen their skills and capabilities, supporting ongoing professional growth and development.
  • Ensure distribution center processes and procedures are followed consistently, with an emphasis on efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize processes and implement improvements that streamline operations and enhance productivity.
  • Monitor key performance indicators to evaluate performance and support data-driven decision-making that advances operational excellence.
  • Lead and supervise 8 to 50 employees in a lean manufacturing and distribution environment.
  • Determine daily staffing needs and assign work to employees in response to changing demand levels.
  • Champion a culture of safety by promoting adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements throughout the distribution center.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, and address hazards promptly to reduce risk and prevent incidents.
  • Approve payroll and administer corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Facilitate clear and open communication among management, team members, and cross-functional partners to ensure alignment on goals and priorities.
  • Maintain a strong focus on inventory control, accuracy, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment where ideas are valued and feedback is encouraged.
  • Optimize resources and manage costs within the distribution center, including labor, inventory, and equipment, to support budget goals.
  • Monitor expenses and variances, implement corrective actions as needed to meet financial targets, and develop training programs that equip team members to perform their roles effectively.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred. 
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a distribution center, warehouse, or similar operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of distribution center operations, including process execution, safety requirements, quality standards, and inventory management.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and engage a diverse workforce.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) or comparable software.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt effectively to shifting priorities.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity, professionalism, and customer service.

Travel Requirements

  • 0-10%.

The range for this position is $60,900.00 to $109,600.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
