Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Commerce Platform team. This role is ideal for a passionate DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering professional who wants to help build, scale, secure, and continuously improve the cloud platforms, automation frameworks, and CI/CD capabilities that support Acuity’s commerce technology landscape.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing the infrastructure, deployment pipelines, automation patterns, and operational practices that enable rapid, secure, and reliable delivery of commerce applications and services. The role builds on the DevOps responsibilities including infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipeline ownership, secure delivery, monitoring, documentation, and continuous improvement.

You will collaborate closely with software engineering, QA, architecture, security, and product teams to improve deployment reliability, accelerate release cycles, strengthen engineering standards, and support the evolution of scalable commerce platforms. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, enabling teams through automation, and driving operational maturity across cloud-native platforms.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines that support the development, testing, and deployment of AI driven applications
  • Lead the automation of infrastructure provisioning, environment management, configuration, deployment workflows, and operational processes using modern Infrastructure as Code and DevOps tooling.
  • Partner with engineering, QA, security, architecture, and product teams to ensure software is delivered securely, reliably, and efficiently across the commerce platform.
  • Promote DevOps, platform engineering, automation, and security best practices across the team, helping to improve consistency, quality, and speed of delivery.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipeline standards using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar enterprise delivery platforms.
  • Support containerized and Kubernetes-based workloads using technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Kustomize and related cloud-native tooling.
  • Implement and optimize monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability capabilities using platforms such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch, or equivalent tools
  • Identify reliability, performance, scalability, and deployment bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement across infrastructure, pipelines, and engineering workflows.
  • Contribute to documentation, runbooks, reusable patterns, and engineering standards that improve team productivity and operational resilience
  • Mentor engineers and help raise DevOps maturity across Agile, cross-functional teams through practical guidance, reusable automation, and strong engineering practices.
 

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 - 6 + yrs of strong experience working in software development, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or cloud infrastructure roles.
  • Proven experience designing, maintaining, and improving CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
  • Strong hands-on experience with major cloud providers, with preference for Microsoft Azure.
  • Solid programming and scripting capability, particularly with Python and automation-focused tooling.
  • Strong Linux knowledge and familiarity with modern software development workflows, branching strategies, build processes, and release tooling
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Kustomize, Kyverno, and related ecosystem tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Bicep, Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent technologies.
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps practices, including secure CI/CD pipelines, container security, secrets management, automated security scanning, and secure software delivery.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose complex infrastructure, deployment, and runtime issues
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across Agile, cross-functional teams.
  • Experience using collaboration and documentation tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Miro, and Microsoft Teams.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with event-driven architecture and secure software development practices.
  • Experience supporting production applications, data pipelines, Python-based services, or AI/ML workloads.
  • Experience driving DevOps maturity, reusable platform patterns, deployment standardization, and operational improvement across multiple engineering teams.
  • Experience working in commerce, customer-facing platforms, digital product engineering, or enterprise software environments.
  • Ability to influence engineering teams through practical enablement, architecture alignment, automation, and continuous improvement.
