Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer I provides entry-level design support for the development, implementation, analysis, validation, and maintenance of electronic hardware products and systems. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, this position contributes to projects with defined scope and generally predictable levels of complexity.
The role performs foundational engineering tasks in schematic design, PCB development, prototype bring-up, troubleshooting, testing, qualification, and technical documentation while building the skills needed to take on increasingly complex design responsibilities.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Project/Product Development: The Electrical Engineer I is part of the design team responsible for the development and support of electronic hardware products. Under senior engineering guidance, performs engineering analyses, collects and evaluates data, supports problem solving, and creates or updates tangible hardware designs.
• Design responsibilities: With guidance from a senior hardware engineer, supports analog and digital circuit design; schematic capture; basic circuit analysis, modeling, and simulation; PCB layout; component evaluation and selection; prototype bring-up and troubleshooting; design verification planning and testing; qualification activities; and creation of design documentation to support manufacturing.
• Workflow management: Completes assigned project tasks, performs measurements, and communicates findings to the project lead. Provides timely status updates, confirms priorities, and raises technical questions or potential roadblocks so work remains on schedule.
• Analysis and manufacturing support: Helps identify concerns early in the design effort, supports structured root cause analysis, evaluates possible solutions, and documents results. Assists with manufacturing test requirements, failure investigations, sustaining engineering, and component lifecycle or alternate-part evaluations.
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
• Entry-level position; prior internship, cooperative education, senior design, or project experience involving electronic hardware development is preferred.
• Foundational experience designing, assembling, bringing up, debugging, or testing electronic circuits or printed circuit boards is preferred.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including issue identification, laboratory measurement, analysis, documentation, and development of recommendations with guidance.
• Ability to produce accurate results in a collaborative and dynamic engineering environment.
• Technical Depth: Understands and applies foundational analog and digital circuit concepts. Performs basic circuit analysis and simulation, reads and creates schematics, and works within established practices and clearly defined assignments. Learns and adopts new tools, technologies, and engineering methods. Incorporates technical review feedback into completed work.
• Laboratory and Troubleshooting Skills: Uses common laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, and logic analyzers. Methodically gathers measurements, analyzes results, and documents findings while following safe laboratory practices.
• Project Management: Breaks assigned work into manageable steps, confirms priorities and expectations with the project lead, provides status updates, and communicates potential roadblocks. Executes individual tasks, deadlines, and deliverables with supervision.
• Analytical Skills: Collects information from appropriate sources, helps determine where an issue occurred, supports root cause analysis, and develops recommendations with guidance from senior engineers, managers, or project leads.
• Communication and Teamwork: Works effectively within a small cross-functional team of multidisciplinary engineers. Communicates technical questions and findings clearly, listens to feedback, participates in team activities, and shares information and documentation to support the broader organization.
• Documentation: Creates clear and accurate engineering documentation, including design files, bills of materials, test instructions, test results, investigation summaries, and technical reports.
• Collaboration: Works with firmware, software, mechanical, test, manufacturing, compliance, product, component engineering, and supply-chain teams as needed to complete assigned work.
• Travel: Ability to travel to other company, supplier, or manufacturing locations as business needs require.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

The range for this position is $55,000 to $99,000. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
