Job Summary
Responsible for understanding and interpretting requirements of a project within construction documents and specificiations to design a controls system tailored to the specific project needs including effectively communicating with sales agents/customers at all stages of design. Uses visual software suiteto help generate the requested deliverable set through the RFA process based on their interpretation and input. Suggest changes to deliverables to customer and amend original requirements. Delivers bill of material, layout and/or submittal.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Trade Compliance Analysts in Mexico.
- Assign workloads, manage priorities, and ensure timely execution of daily tasks.
- Provide training, performance feedback, and support employee development.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with global trade objectives.
Broker and Operational Management:
- Serve as the main point of contact for global day-to-day inquiries from customs brokers.
- Review import and export documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Provide HTS codes for facilitation purposes only (final classification remains with designated HTS specialists).
- Provide Country of Origin information to support the movement of goods. ·
- Facilitate Free Trade Agreement certificates and maintain required documentation (access provided).
- Ensure brokers submit entries accurately and on time.
Compliance and Audit Activities:
- Perform entry audits to verify HTS, Country of Origin, pricing, Incoterms, and all import data elements.
- Run customs portal reports and identify inconsistencies or potential compliance issues.
- Work directly with customs brokers to resolve discrepancies and request Post-Entry Corrections when needed.
- Escalate high-risk or unresolved issues to the Global Import/Export Manager.
- Support internal and external audits and help implement corrective actions.
Reporting and Governance:
- Maintain compliance with global customs regulations and internal trade policies.
- Prepare and analyze trade compliance reports and KPIs for management review.
- Support the development and improvement of trade compliance procedures and controls.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Trade Operations or Customs Compliance.
- Familiarity with global HTS classification concepts.
- Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
- Bilingual English/Spanish, with advanced English required. International Trade, Degree or Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Understanding of Free Trade Agreements and preferential duty programs.
- Required Skills Strong time management and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
- Experience with Prisma, IDM, PDM, Oracle preferred.
- Ability to lead, coach, and motivate team members.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and sound judgment in compliance matters.
