Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the buyer will utilize inventory management tools and techniques to manage supply chain components used in the manufacturing of daylighting products.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Set component inventory levels based on customer demand and finished good strategies
- Negotiate prices, lead times, and order quantities
- Coordinate customer orders and deliver to production floor
- Maintains open communication and effective working relationship across the organization
- Place orders and follow up with suppliers as well as internal and external coordination for goods and services under their responsibility
- Actively participate to reduce component costs and rationalize inventory in your portfolio
- Support the new product development team for the purchasing portion
Education (Minimum education required)
- High School Graduate
- High School Diploma Equivalency/ GED
- Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Operations and Production Management or equivalent experience.
Preferred Education
- Bachelor of Science
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
- 3 years experience with the complete Supply Chain cycle (search, cost analysis, negotiation, plant audit, sample buying and quality control)
- Experience in the manufacturing sector (essential)
- Strong understanding of lean concepts (Kanban, Standard Work, etc)
- Experience working with different parts and materials (steel, aluminum, plastic, electrical / electronic components, etc.)
- Excellent knowledge of purchasing, logistics, planning and material control functions
- Negotiation and sourcing (Asset)
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to negotiate and solve problems
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Sense of priorities and solution-oriented
- Good knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Electrical or lighting industry experience

The range for this position is $64,300 to $115,700. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
