Job Summary
Reporting to the Purchasing/Planning team, this position plays a key role in production planning and the procurement of raw materials for various production cells. The person in this role will also be responsible for sourcing office supplies or miscellaneous materials for the plants and offices within their business unit.
This role requires adaptability in a constantly evolving environment. The Planner/Buyer plays a key role in delivering exceptional customer service by optimizing production capacity, preventing raw material shortages, and prioritizing tasks to maintain a delivery rate of over 98% for our customers.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Main Daily Tasks:
- Align production of finished goods with customer orders.
- Ensure procurement of raw materials according to established ordering methods (KanBan, ERP recommendations, etc.).
- Act as the liaison between Customer Service and Production to maintain a 98% on-time delivery rate to our clients.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with various suppliers.
- Participate in emergency planning meetings with suppliers.
- Work closely with Accounts Payable to facilitate the invoice payment process.
- Participate in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to ensure a smooth and timely production launch.
- Ensure inventory levels of finished goods and raw materials under their responsibility meet target levels.
Main Weekly Tasks:
- Support the NPI process to ensure a smooth and quick production rollout.
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials for new product introductions.
- Validate and update various ERP/MRP parameters based on demand fluctuations.
- Analyze production needs versus available production capacity for each production cell.
Related Tasks:
- Ensure product BOM (Bill of Materials) accuracy in the ERP.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory database records.
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
- Associate Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field (e.g., Associate of Applied Science – AAS).
- 2 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to NPI projects.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-departmental setting.
- Experience with an ERP system (Infor Syteline or equivalent).
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of NPI processes and BOM management.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and foresight.
- Excellent cross-functional communication (planning, R&D, purchasing, sourcing).
- Technical curiosity and solution-oriented mindset.

The range for this position is $64,300.00 to $115,700.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
