Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Firmware/Software Test Analyst to join our team developing and validating embedded control systems for the refrigeration industry. In this role, you will design, develop, and execute automated and manual test strategies to ensure the reliability, performance, and safety of our refrigeration system control products.
The ideal candidate is passionate about embedded systems testing, has strong Python programming skills for test automation, and ideally brings domain knowledge of refrigeration cycles and thermodynamics. You will collaborate closely with firmware developers, hardware engineers, and product teams to catch defects early, support regression testing, and contribute to continuous integration pipelines.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts primarily in Python to validate embedded firmware and software functionality.
Design comprehensive test plans, test cases, and procedures for functional, integration, regression, and stress testing of embedded systems.
Execute manual and automated tests on target hardware, including bench setups and simulated refrigeration systems.
Analyze test results, reproduce defects, perform root cause analysis, and work with development teams to drive bug fixes.
Create and maintain test documentation, test reports, traceability matrices, and CI/CD pipeline configurations.
Contribute to improving test coverage, automation efficiency, and overall product quality metrics.
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science preferred or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience considered)
3+ years of experience in embedded systems testing, firmware testing, or software QA for real-time/embedded devices
Proven track record in testing embedded systems and firmware
Strong ability to translate system requirements into comprehensive test plans and test cases
Strong proficiency in Python programming for test automation, scripting, data analysis, and hardware control.
Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and version control systems (Git).
Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., UART, I2C, SPI, BACNET, Modbus, Ethernet).
Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, environmental chambers, and multimeters.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Proven self-starter with initiative, creativity, and excellent problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
Knowledge of refrigeration systems, thermodynamics, or thermal management technologies (commercial refrigeration, transport refrigeration, chillers, heat pumps, etc.).
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and containerization (Docker).

The range for this position is $66,000 to $119,000. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
